Hello V2s!

It's less than 2 weeks to SYF!! We should all be very excited!! (Because it'll be over soon xD hehehe jk). Being in V1 and having been a V2 whilst playing Rutter and Pantomime as well, I realize that it's really really different! Can't explain why (because I'm not much of an explainer), but it's true that listening as an "audience" and listening from within the section/orch is so different! This is evident from hearing our recording yesterday!!! (CA week is right after SYF, so forgive my SEQ-related lameness).

I guess not being a part of V2s, I sort of notice a few things that I missed while being a V2? No worries though, this isn't one of those "hi. here are all your mistakes" posts. heehee. Just a few things that I want to say, because I'm a V2 at heart ;)

1) RUTTER PART K! I think you all sound super unified and almost flawless :D The reason for the ALMOST flawless... You guys aren't moving!! True, that at K the V1s hold the main melody, and the V2s are sort of the "background noise" (ref. Rounds... page 4... those terrible semiquavers... okay out of point), but if you think about it (THINK ABOUT IT NOW -- VISUALIZE), when one section is playing this really nice lyrical melody, and they're moving, swaying back and forth... Then on the other side of the orch, the so-called "background music makers" are stoning. It'll look weird. Especially now that you all are at the side, YOU'RE BEING WATCHED (evil laughter). So I guess this is one of those "listen to the other sections" instances, where you have to enjoy the V1 melody, and not just stone-play your semiquavers. Which are awesome by the way. Proud of y'all :D

Btw, please don't rock like rocking chairs. It looks quite funny. Heehee. Move like lalangs!!! Pretend that the wind is blowing you to and fro... Or be fluid!! Wheeeeeee... Okay continuing...

2) ARTICULATION. (Rutter) I think this is one of the most important things to look out for, especially when we're playing such (so-called) happy, jumpy, energetic pieces. The beginning, for instance, or at B (haha i bolded the B)... When I heard B yesterday I found it kinda dead. Maybe because it was a thursday and nobody likes thursdays, but I think it'd sound better if y'all put some energy into it! And maybe little bit of accents at the chords. Or it'll sound d r a g g y. And there's no such thing as a draggy jumpy song. That's an oxymoron. (Pantomime) Part G! Remember what Mr Chan did to the V1s yesterday? (My pinky finger's cramping T___T... Part G = GG!! okay out of point) The intensity!!! But still must be short. Or else it'll sound like a funeral at Disneyland. (I love similes.) Also, play with less bow, and try spicatto-ing the parts with semiquavers/quavers! This applies to Rutter too btw, at places like F I think, if I remember correctly.

3) MOOOOOOVE!!!! There is improvement (YAY), but still not moving enough!! Sigh. I don't think there's a way to teach people how to move without it looking robotic, but I like incentives. How about this: MOVE and let's go for Ben & Jerry's ice cream on 29 April! No CCA that day (i think), and everybody likes ice cream! If you don't move? NO ICE CREAM FOR YOU. Bwahahahaha.

So basically those are the few things that I think are the most significant liabilities that an audience/judges will notice. REMEMBER: ICE CREAM FOR MOOOOOVERS.

Anyways, JIAYOU! Practice hard (but not too hard -- later your violin break)! WE CAN DO IT! SYF IN 13 DAYS. WHEEEEEHOOOOO.

okay anyway just to add on to what Liting said...
i know there are some of you who still haven't perfected the technical part SO YOU STILL HAVE TO SPAM PRACTISE FOR THOSE OF YOU.
as for the others, listen to what liting said(:
i think you'll start to really play expressively and not just play technically correct like a robot.

oh and btw i forgot to tell you all this that liting commented on thursday....(liting i hope you don't mind:P)
she said that we're moving too artificially for figure C of Rutter(and i think that's really true).

SO!for these two weeks, let's really feel the music when we play okay? once we feel it we'll be able to move naturally and not artificially. i think when you really start to feel the music you would not have to force your body to move but instead your body will naturally move and sway along to the music(:

THIS IS REALLY IMPORTANT OKAY!!!!!!WE MUST FEEL AS A SECTION SO THAT WE CAN IMPRESS THE JUDGES!(especially now after changing the sitting arrangement between cellos and violin 2s...everyone would be able to see our section VERY CLEARLY>.<)

so we must sway and feel the music especially the outer stands!

Hiya V2s!

SYF IS IN FOURTEEN DAYS! Actually, less than that since it's like 40 min (will be less than that once I post this up) to 15 april. Anyway, these are some things that I think is worth your time thinking about. =) You can think about it like during lessons if you get really really really sleepy (Ok, that's NOT a good idea....better to pay attention, so you don't have to study as hard later on since you already unsderstand the concepts, hehe), when you are practising and wondering why you have to practise so hard just for an imaginary award (I say imaginary because I don't think they give out real awards....I've never seen one, that's why. xD)...or when you are so wu liao and have nothing to do (like me! Heh). Haha! So, here goes!

1) Why are you here? What are you doing?
First of all, why are you here? What do you hope to gain by being a part of String Orchestra and taking part in SYF? For the sake of having a CCA, for the sake of getting LEAPS points? I should think not. There must have been some motivating factor for you to join string instead of some other cca. Try to remember your thoughts as a sec 1 auditioning for String. Perhaps that might help.

2)What is music?
Really think hard about this question. Think of all the music that you really enjoy, like Jay Chou or ARASHI or err......what's the name of one Korean band...hmmm....oh, Girls' Generation, was it? Anyway, yea, think of WHY you like their songs. Like, what's so appealing? What quality of it makes it music?
I think if you really think hard you'll find your answer. I doubt everyone's answer will be the same, but still, if you get something, good for you! Because using that standard, you can now decide on whether the SYF pieces you all are playing is music to your ears, or just organised sounds.

3) What was something that you felt really passionate about? Or if you're really passionless (which would be a very sad thing, but fret not, for you still have time), what was something that you really truly enjoyed?
Think of the feelings that you had when you experienced it for the first time. That is the kind of emotions I'm looking for in your music, because that is something that cannot be artificially created - it is genuine and sincere. And as you may probably learn later in life, sincerity is always just about the best thing that can happen to anyone. (Goodness, I sound old....)

4) Are you listening?
Haha, I am half tempted to leave this question open-ended without explaining what I meant by that, but I shall not go to that extent. What I really meant is this: When you play your SYF pieces, are you listening? Or are you playing like robots and just hearing the sounds, adjusting the intonation, rhythm blah blah when the need arises?
I think that if you are truly listening, then you'll find that every single time you play the pieces, there's a new and fresh way of interpretation (or at least there should be)! No two people in the wold are exactly the same, and similarly, no two run-throughs are exactly the same. Try to realise what your ideal interpretation of the piece is, and make it come alive! If you keep on listening to these silent sounds, it is in my utmost conviction that you will be able to find the spirit of your song.

Ok, these are just my two cents worth. I hope you find this useful! Because if you read between the lines, I am sure you'll be able to decipher what I thought of your playing today. Ok, maybe you don't really need to pay so much attention, but yea. There's just 14 more days - this is not the time to spam practice - you should have perfected the piece in the technical aspect some time ago. Now is the time to take a step back and look at everything you have done. Look at the big picture. Then perhaps you'll be able to reach your goal, whatever it may be.

In any case, I wish you all the best, and may you find the song of your soul! =)

Haha, I am happy that you all played quite well today! Yup. It was not bad. So give yourselves a pat on your back!

Ok, good part is over. Now comes the not-so-good part.

Your playing was not bad, but it wasn't good enough either. it's just...above average? Like, technique is around there already, but somehow the music just seems to be lacking in something. And that is where your emotions come in.

Remember what I always tried to get y'all to do? If you don't, you deserve a smacking. Hehe! Anyway, you are supposed to ENJOY THE MUSIC! It's only when you put your heart to it that you will be able to play it well. And when you enjoy your music, loads of other things will come naturally. Things like sitting up straight, sitting half chair, SWAYING LIKE LALANGS....on second thought, that's not really appropriate, but ANYWAY, you get the point, right? Yep. Movement is important, and it is also a way to show that you know and enjoy what you are playing. What I saw from the back just now told me that all of you didn't know what you were doing. Which isn't gonna be helpful at all.

And then there's the issue of recess prac. I am really really astonished that y'all started complaining when Jan announced that they would increase the frequency of recess practice to 5 times a week. THAT WAS THE NORM REMEMBER?! You are supposed to grab the little time you have left to pursue your goal.

And then there's also the issue of turning up late for classes. Let me ask you a question: How big is the school exactly? Why do you need 10 min to walk from the MEP room to your classes? SN isn't THAT big! Recess practice is NOT an excuse for tardiness. That would depend mainly on your attitude towards lessons and recess practice.

There's something else that's bugging me. Since when did the orchestra get so small? I didn't see a lot of people that ought to be at cca, unless they were sick. I'd like to point out that SYF is a mere 2 months away. Skipping CCA is NOT something you ought to be proud of. You will come to regret it.

Ok, I think that's about all the issues that I wanted to cover. I really hope that you all will put in more effort, and think more about how your actions will impact others. You had better not roll your eyes at this. These aren't laughing matters.

Anyway, I don't like ending posts sounding angry, so I shall congratulate y'all for having improved as a section! =) Ok, this is really the end. CONTINUE TO PRACTISE, AND JIAYOUS!

In an attempt to wake up this sleepy little blog, I'm gonna post photos from the green badges' graduation night! Of course, these photos are gonna be v2 related. =)

Assuming tasha is the '10 SL...

First up, this is a photo of the '08 and '09 SLs, taken when the '09 SL is laughing at you-know-what just before the picture is taken.

Actually, I don't know what you-know-what is. Anyway, moving on, the next photo is of the '09 and '08 SLs doing the V2 sign!

The next one is really cool. There's the '07 SL's sister, as well as the '08 and '09 SLs! Haha. XD

This one is of the future prime minister and the '08 SL! XD

That's all I guess. 'Cause unfortunately, your blur future prime minister didn't hear the announcement for stringers to gather at the back, hence there isn't any photo of the 3 of us together. Oh well.

hey Violins!
i really hope one day we'll be able to play as well as this recording of st.paul's suite(the one in the playlist on the blog)!
i really think it's possible.
which is why i really want everyone to be able to play the triplet bar perfectly.
by getting it right, it means that you're capable of playing other pieces well:)
so please practise that as your standard repertoire whenever you take out your violin to practise.
I'll actually arrange the sitting arrangements according to how well you can play that as one of the factors.
along with VIBRATO WHICH OUR SECTION IS VERY WEAK AT:/

anyway about Thursday...
i am extremely sorry i was unable to sight-read Pantomime:/
sight-reading happens to be something which i can't do:/
but yeah, i'll really work on it so that i can lead the section better:)
but hmm, our section was really weak.
When Mr chan asked our section to play just the quavers,
we couldn't.
we're supposed to be better than this!
and our section is really big, nearly twice that of violin ones.
Usually when we play the standard pieces and we have solo parts, our section is extremely soft, softer than the violin ones.
and violin ones played really well on thursday though we just started playing Pantomime.
we could learn from them:)

i know we can do better than this.
and i know that everyone of you can play well.
so i hope we'll be able to play with a stronger sound.
for eg. figure C of Rutter.
there's always this phrase which only our section plays.
it has to be stronger:)

she made us play figure D by ourselves because we were too soft.
we really need to play louder because we carry the main melody with the violin ones and we need to support them and play equally as loud as them.

Then Amanda asked those playing the bottom notes to play and i could only hear Deshalynn and Jessica playing loud enough.

so please familiarize yourself with the piece better and get acquainted with all the notes so that you don't have to come for cca trying to read all the notes.
which is really bad.

and don't be shy to play loud enough!
have confidence in your playing and hee, i hope one day people will realise how good our section's playing is.

Listen to their dynamics!It's really good.and Take note at Fig.3 how they play our solo part and LEARN from it. Remember it is supposed to sound SHORT, do not play it legato.and the one in the vid is very coordinated!try listening to the entire section when you play it so that we'll be able to play it more together. and also what dr yeo said, to separate the long note with the short one at four bars after fig. 3 and the 8th bar and 10th bar and 12th bar after 3.

at the triple F bar,
it is faster than what we normally play.
Please work on you intonation first before trying to play it fast.

This is really sad okay,
MORE THAN one-third of our whole section was asked to change teacher.
the whole bulk of it came from our section and only two other people from another section was asked to change teacher.
This just shows that we really have alot to work on and improve,
or else we'll end up playing suite and light for syf(according to him~.^)

so anyway please change your teachers, and those that were not asked to, you can still change if you feel that you teacher has not been able to help you reach your full potential.
i have a few teachers from the sso to reccomend so if you need numbers, just approach me or deshalynn.

so CHEERS, and please practise hard for CIP.
We need to show them that we are able to play well!
one way to do so is to practise the triple F bar from St. Paul's Suite.

anyway this is the current seating arrangement for those of you unfamiliar with it:

5th Stand: Michelle, Chu Wen
6th Stand: Hui En, Yish21uen

It is due to change when we have our first check-ups!
Outer Stands play the upper notes and Inner stands play the lower notes.
Please do not play any other way.
If you used to play upper or lower and now you have to do a switch, please do so.

that's the whole point of the seating arrangement,
if your standpartner has any bad habits, please help her to change!:)

Heyy V2s!!!

OMGG this will be my last post to you as SL!!! i mean, yes i've officially handed over luh but still- this is the handing over of the blog wahaha!

its been such a great journey with you all, and i've grown to love you all soo soo much!!! haha i can't believe we've gone through syf and jubilates and camps just lyk that- time really flies.

thank you for all the gifts, especially that really really cute card haha and the doll with all your msges inside! it really really really means alot to me. im just soo soo happy to have been in snso and sl of V2 and known you all and its just soo... haha weird im leaving strings.

lol can't believe i've got a new name too. im naming the doll you all gave heehee- still trying to find a suitable name- any suggestions?

ahh well, work hard kay ? :) we MUST be better than ri! hahaha! rmb what we always hear? that although RI ppl can play better than us, we are wayyy moree tgt- and that is one of the most important things that many orchestras try to achieve but cant. SO KEEP IT UP V2S AND LET THE SN SPIRIT LIVEEEE WAHAHAHA sounds lyk the alumnae poster thing the put up at the holding schl.

Hey v2s!

THANK YOU FOR THE HUMONGOUS CARD AND DOLL THING! Can't believe yall actually thought of giving one to me, since I;m technically no longer in the section. =) Haha hope yall had a good laugh during farewell today~ Not quite the atmosphere I was actually expecting haha. I still remember crying during every single farewell, 'cept today. But of course, I cried for diff reasons every year.

In any case, please welcome your new SL, Natasha, and ASL, Deshalynn! Hope yall will work well with them, and respect them. It's the SYF year next year, so you all MUST be bonded and all so that its easier to overcome obstacles. Yup.

I hope no one is too upset over the postings. There is a reason for everything, so I guess all one can do is to pick up from where we left off and continue with life. After all, this is just some minor setback in life, isn't it? There is still much joy and happiness in the wold, if only you choose to chase after it.

Ok then, I guess Charm and Aly will be posting too, as a final message to all of you. And mine would be: All the best for SYF, and remember, once a v2, always a v2! =)

Hello juniors (or myself, since hardly anyone comes here, i think),

Anyway, I'm here to liven up the blog, and motivate you all for jubilate!

Anyone remembers this?

Credits to foopy. =) This was made for syf. Whites, refer to your notes. Its on the last page. Haha.

In any case, jiayous ok! Every jubilate is special for some reason or other. Come to think of it, none of my jubilates had been normal. In s1 I was watching the seniors from backstage, in s2 we were conducted by Mr Goh, in s3 I was sitting in front, and this year is my final year. So there is something unique for each jubilate. Yup. Treasure it and do your best alright? You all are getting much better already. Must thank Charm kay? Do your best and don't regret anything after the performance. Don't let any hard feelings you have with anyone in the orch ruin the night for you.

I guess thats all. Enjoy your performance, and show the whole world why v2s should never be looked down on. =)

anywayy GOOD LUCK EVERYONE FOR CHECKUPSS!

dvojak and rutter:/

and rutter's fast part:(

so anyway some things to take note of that are especially important for checkups:

-DYNAMICS.
(pls play out all indicated dynamic under the score. ultimately, if you wanna get promoted to the front stands, this is one of the most important factors; its what separates you from the rest of the other people.so if you wanna do well, dynamic changes, accents etc have to be REALLY obvious)

-RHYTHM
(no matter how good your technique is, if your rhythm is not accurate, you won't be able to play well. hence, an advice for all, please practise the pieces with a metronome in different beats; crotchets,quavers semi-quavers etc. especially dvojak with a complicated rhythm! the difference between the quavers and semi-quavers should be obvious.EXample, dvojak letter E,rhythm has to be precise)

-TECHNICALITY
(technique is really important!one of the main contributing factors to how well you'd fare for check-ups. take not of all the small little things that the conductors said and practise those hard phrases repeatedly!especially in dvojak, parts that have to be short and detached but NOT staccato(BAR 32,33,44,45 etc) as compared to the beginning where you do a staccato.)

-BOWINGS
(if by now you still do not know the bowings pls go check with the rest. It's the basic thing you MUST DEFINITELY KNOW).

and of course for rutter's fast part, please practise them seperate bowings first in dotted rhythm SLOWLY. then increase you speed gradually. it is important for you to have perseverance and patience when practising this part.

yep i think that's about all, unless i can remember some other stuff to take note of.

oh yeah and i just remembered, TONE COLOUR.
the least is for you not to sound squeeeeekkkkkyyyyy.

I know I have no business here, but anyway, good job today! Sounded quite ok. Though yall could have moved and swayed to the music. And intonation and articulation could be better.

This is your '09 sl(cell)!!!! Ok anyway, HOW WAS CAMP??!!! And did yall like the video? Weng Chen, Charmaine and me woke up at 4.50am (after sleeping at 1am plus) just to chiong it out okay!

Ok I shall complain about how tiring camp is, even though it was fun for yall. =)

1st day
Yes i woke up late. But the day before I was chionging maths like mad cause its due TODAY. So yep. Then after that rush rush rush cause we forgot to print the groupings. Which is why I didn't take part in whacko. OH AND CHARMAINE WAS SO FUNNY! If you looked at the video you'll see why.
Then after that is shoe hunt. Ok not that tiring.
Then its the balloon game right? Yar. Then greys!!!! Don't think I don't know that yall just stand there and hide. Yi Shuen and Deshalynn also! Haha. =)
Then umm....forfeit+debrief. And then I still have to do the chicky dance in front of yall when I'm so tired already. But thanks Charis and Charmaine for the cheer (which later becomes a v2 cheer).
Then lunch! We couldn't eat until yall eat leh! And then yall so unenthu don't want to do hungry cheer properly. =( OI! BIGGEST SECTION WHY NO SOUND!
Then its chess! And I still have to further tax my brain cells because all of you decided not to play chess and so its just me and Charis. Oh well. NEXT TIME we shall force everybody to play chess with Charis! Ahahahahaha. Nah just joking.
Then its section bonding+prep for farewell. ANYWAY, for farewell we're going to give the greatest farewell ever for our dear elizabeth, jomain and priscilla!
Then its Amazing Race! Slack time for me, but it was fun right? RIGHT?!

Weng Chen woke charm and me up at 4.50a.m. SO EARLY RIGHT?! And yall are all still in lala land....probably dreaming of ice-skating (cause me and charm both dreamed that. HAHA!) Then we chiong out the video in the small crammed room which you usually use to come into the orch room (the one nearer ensemble room). Then chiong chiong chiong then after that still have to go set up to give yall morning call. Good thing yall all woke up. Then after that stll have to be enthu and lead yall in morning excercise! YI SHUEN!!!! I CAUGHT YOU STONING ON CAMERA!!!!!!!!!!! Oh and I didn't see the greys, BUT I KNOW YALL WERE STONING TOO!!!!!
Breakfast! And we had not enough milk...and we still have to chiong down to set up everything. AND YALL TAKE SO LONG TO GET OUT OF THE ROOM!!!!!!!!! Haha.
MASQUERADE! OH YA WHO'S IN JESSALYN'S GROUP?! SCREAM THE MINUTE YOU SEE ME! HAIYO! But it was fun running around taking random shots. HA CHARIS! Oh and you see, its running around, so its tiring also okay!
Then chiong chiong chiong video out. So I missed the prize presentation. Oh well.

Hey v2s!

Yes I KNOW that almost all of you are disappointed. But, look at where we've come from! Just a few weeks ago I was so worried that yall won't be able to play properly! But LOOK AT WHERE WE ARE NOW!!! We've come so far, and in our teachers', seniors', and even the audience's hearts, we ARE a Gold WITH HONOURS orchestra. And today, when my d string went out of tune, you have PROVED that you are a GOLD WITH HONOURS section too. And I am so proud of you all. Every single one of you.

So, we've run the last lap. We know we have tried our very best, so don't be discouraged. We still have Jubilate, so work towards it. Prove to the school that even though in title we didn't achieve a gold with honours, we are STILL a gold with honours orchestra. We have proved it today in front of our teachers in charge. On 22 May, it will be in front of the school. So v2s, we HAVE done it and WILL do it.

I must say that I'm very proud of all of you. So, rock on! =)

Hey everyone.
Yeah yeah, so i din post for quite sometime. Whatever. I'll post okay? It's called BEING BUSY.

Im posting today, on the request of your beloved SL, so thank her. No, thank me. Gah, just thank BOTH of us :D

So anyway, what am i busy with?
Well, I'm busy with lots of things. Firstly, i've got to practice violin and piano (typical for us, and im busy with... fixing the internet (thank God it's fixed) ... and I'm busy with lots of things okay! And there's Edward Cullen, my adoring hubby, to attend to (i have to spend lots of time iwth him, you know)... and then i've got to spend time thinking about MMMMMMM... (ahem, they are DECENT thoughts okay, don't anyhow think)... and i've got to think of... lost of other stuff, which i dun really rmb. Oh, and im busy being pissed of with this really (censored :D) friend of mine, if this person can be onsidered a friend.

Well, anyway, church camp was SO fun!I've just decided that im dun wanna show you the pics, so sry. haha. And then, church camp was partly fun cos i was near SOMEBODY... ahhh... so happy...
Oh, and i made new friends! Cool right? I know :D
And my grp was so cool. I'll tell you the names of my group members, though i dunno why you'd want to noe them, but oh well, here goes : Guy, Joachim, Ronald, Maryanne, Felicia who else ... oh oh oh, and there's Kristopher. F la, he totally spoiled one of the group photos. And then, there is BEAUTIFUL ME, Charmaine :D !
Oh well... moving on...
It's so... GAH! to have girls be the minority. But i was gracious, and accepted it :D haha/ Self- praise.

Oh, and then, i've just finished reading a book about angels. I think there are 7 achangels, and three of them are St. Michael, St. Grabriel, and St. Rahpael. So if you having any problems, feel free to ask me which angels to pray to, or best, pray to them all, and they will help Jesus protect you.

Today's weather report is that it is rainy, and now, the night air is cool and refreshing :D

Well, sectionals is on the 2nd Dec, so you'd better make yourself free on that day, and it's 9am- 3pm. The venue will be at Charis's house (the function room) and for her address, please ask her, as i shouldn't post it for the world to see. LOL! Let's all give Charis a pat on her back.

Drama was SO fun! I honestly love drama ok. It is SOSOSOSOSOSOSOSOSOSOSOSOSO fun!

Oh yeah, and also, we MUST take sectionals seriously, okay? Cos we HAVE to beat a certain school, and we HAVE to earn that subsidisied holiday trip to... where? whatever, a holiday is a holiday. Besides, think of he amount of CCA points you can get! Yeah...

Section Outing Updates

Hey people! The date for section outing is now being changed to 18 december! But if more people cannot make it for this one, it will probably still be on the 19th. Anyway, this is the rough programme if its on the 18th (Priscilla's brilliant plan to fit almost everyone's suggestion):

Ice-skating/bowling at kallang
Movies?
Lunch
Play at someone's house (maybe can involve cycling at a nearby park?)
End

However, we won't be going to kallang if its on the 19th.

And this is the list of people who are not able to make it on both days:

3. Sue Hern

Oh well, maybe we can hold another one next year, when everyone is like around!

Oh and another important piece of news! There's going to be check-ups on friday. Passages tested (of Britten 4) include figures 3, 5 and 10 (not exhaustive). Scales will be A and D major 2 octaves. Happy practising! =)

Hey people! Section Outing is going to be on 19th December after the 4 of us finish performing for next year's sec 1s!!! So far, people who are unable to make it are (or rather, is):

1. Charis

Anyone else? Please tell me as soon as possible. And the programme has not been decided yet, so continue with the flow of ideas! Suggested activies so far:

1. Ice-skating (...)
2. Escape Theme Park
3. Cycle at Pulau Ubin (!!!)
4. Buffet at Sakae Sushi
5. Movie/shopping

That's all that's been suggested. And CCA starts at 9 on tues, so don't come at 3!!! That's all peeps!

Yay I've come to revive the dead blog!

Anyway, about section outing.
Till date, NO ONE has given me the dates when they are not in Singapore. Thus, I'll give yall a list of dates to choose from to hold section outing.

17 November-Monday
24 November-Monday
6 December-Saturday
13 December-Saturday
20 December-Saturday

Well, basically Mondays and Saturdays because there's cca/sectionals on Tuesdays and Fridays, most of you have violin lesson on Wednesday, Charmaine and me have ours on Thursday and Sunday is FAMILY DAY. So there.

And sectionals. I'm thinking of holding once a week during the december holidays, most probably on tuesday or friday. I'll get yall to vote on Friday.

Oh and and and congrats to Wen Man, Sue Hern, Elizabeth and Natasha, our dear award-winners!!! Yall make us proud haha! =)

Ok I have 4 things to remind/tell you all about.

1)Sectionals on 29th October
The Sec 3s do not have to come for this one. However, it is COMPULSORY for the rest. Anyway, it starts from 9am to 12pm at my house. However, if you all want to stay until 2 its fine by me since the slot we are given for the function room is until 2. If you don't know my address, get it from me on tuesday.

2)Sectionals in December
Yes there will be sectionals in December held at school. Please give me the dates you are overseas or busy and I will try to accommodate everyone. And I'm thinking of asking the Sec 4s to come back and help us since they would have finished the O levels by then.

3)SYF
In case you all didn't know, the pieces we are playing for SYF are Dvorak V and Britten IV (i.e. Frolicsome Finale). So practice hard! And, as Olivia and Mr Soh had said yesterday, there will be auditions held in January and March next year. And because of the SYF, CCA will be held thrice a week-Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. Only thing is that Friday will be for 2 hours. And recess practices will start in Mid-January.

4)Check-ups on 31st October
The piece we are playing for check-ups is Dvorak 5 and the scales you all are tested on is G major, D major and A major 1-octave scales. Haha. But be prepared to play like 2 octave scales or something in case they don't approve of you all playing 1 octave scales.

Hi ppl!!! =)

Yay EOYs are OFFICIALLY OVER!!! Haha. I'm overly ecstatic!

Ok anyway, reminder: we are going to have section lunch tomorrow, meet at MEP room after games carnival. Oh and right we need a time-keeper so we won't have to run back everytime we have section lunch and risk getting appendicitis.

Oh and after the 'O' levels, we are going to have a section outing and Im thinking of inviting the yellows. And I think its about time they come to know about this blog's existence. And I think we should add their names too.

Oh and Charis (or was it Charmaine?) suggested a v2 tee. What do yall think? Vote by tagging kay.

Ellie-that was the worse you ever played cause of the flu so get well soon!

Jomain-quite alright. =)

Priscilla-quite alright too. Playing slightly louder might be better.

Greens!

Charmaine-your dynamics and intonation are really off than usual. put more rosin cause the tone colour wasn't very good.

Alyssa-yay you improved! Now play louder.

Whites!

Ray Yueh-Dynamics are there!XD Just make it more obvious and now you can start working on tone colour.

Yi Shuen-Same as Ray Yueh. Except your tone colour is sligtly better, which is good! =)

Deshalynn-Yay your intonation is way better!=) Now do dynamics.

Charis-Go for dynamics now! And make the p slightly louder

Natasha-Oh no I can't rmb....er....aha i remembered! Its the rests again! Except this time its better! Work on your tempo. And the way you hold your violin looks a little weird. Stand straighter. Maybe that will help.

Chu Wen-Yay the flow is better! Now play louder and be more confident.

And and and I heard that Mr Goh said that we NEED sectionals. So, shall we use one of the marking days for sectionals? We REALLY NEED TO IMPROVE if we want that GOLD WITH HONOURS. White Badgers, I suggest you practice EACH AND EVERY SINGLE NOTE. Yep that's what I did last year.

I shall post my REAL comments on the check-ups another day. The grades you got were given by Jessalyn.

Hey V2s! Li Ting here again.

So we had sectionals today. These are some comments on your playing so that you can work on it for friday's check-ups.

We'll start from the white badgers.

Chu Wen-Don't stop so frequuntly and work on the flow of the melody.

Natasha (yes i might test you on my own time)-Circle ALL the rests and don't play anything during the rests. Work on the rhythm too.

Deshalynn-Take note of your intonation, especialy where there are accidentals and try to add more dynamics in.

Charis-Not very fluent. After getting it fluent add dynamics and passion.

Ray Yueh and Yi Shuen-Where did your dynamics run to? Get them back!!! Work on your tone colour too.

Now Green Badge!

Alyssa-Take note of the intonation in the first few bars. Try working on your tone colour.

Charmaine-Err...I didn't really hear you. ><

Blue Badge!

Elizabeth and Jomain-I suppose it's good cause I didn't really hear.

Well that's it. So practice hard and I'll see if I can go less harsh on you all. If you really can't play then I think I'll arrange for "extra sectionals" for those who can't play. Probably during tuesday and friday recesses.

And white badge, please go down to the mep room on 7 October during recess. It's a tuesday. Since the sec twos and threes will not be going for cca until our EOYs are over, I will be checking on how you all are doing during the period when you all get to know Mr Chan (haha) better.

So yep practice hard for the check-ups!

Yo v2s!

Right, firstly, please please please change the present blogskin to something nice. Im so sorry i have no time to change it so pls help ok? And when you've changed the dots to something nice, add a tagbox and tag that you've changed it. Or else others might change it again!

Oh, and when you edit your profile right, put your name there and then your info... sorta of like the format of mine... so we havethe profile of mutiple ppl... ha ha.

Next, you ppl must rmb to update the blog ok? Dun let it be so dead... must be enthu.

So... I shall start by talking abt what happened today... well, firstly, we went to a childcare center... And I was sitting in the 20-seater bus, squashed inbetween two totally weird ppl called Natasha and Charis.

Don't be taken in by their goody-girl looks... inside them... they are REALLY, TOTALLY, VERY, EXTREMELY, INCONCEIVABLY, POSITIVELY, DEFINATELY, ABSOLUTELY dangerous. Today, i reached home with a headache and an ear ache. Why? Because the two of them both SCREAMED some crap song in my ear... so its like one source of noise pollution coming from the right side, and the other source of noise pollution coming from the left side... And i sorta got the full impact of it. Yeah.

Ok fine, I admit I did my share of screaming too... ha ha ha.

On the way there, the WHOLE bus was like filled with songs like ... elmo's world... etc... and yeah...
On the way BACK, not only was the bus filled with horrible out-o-tune screeches, charis, natasha, chuwen, deshalynn and I , who were sitting right at the back, sorta got it into our heads that we should move to the singing (if it can be counted singing), so the whole bus was rocking from side to side... as in literally and figuratively.

I think the children in the center were super cute la! And then, I went to teach them how to spell the word violin so now, they all the how to spell violin! Cool right?! And then i played the violin while they sang... and bla bla bla... so cute. Then, when i was at the school waiting for my dad to come, i met Mr. Teoh and he said "Charmaine, you should join the teaching profession..." and i went "HUH?!"

Seriously, i did tink abt teaching, and i tink it'll be fun... but then again... there'll be SO many things to mark... well, duno.

So anyway, today, Alyssa got a new name! Liting too! Natasha and Charis are really really crazy... at first I tot Natasha and Chuwen were the xiao xiao ones, and now it turns out that Natasha, Chuwen AND Charis are all mentally- challenged... and since i joined them in their looney acts, i suppose i am too... nonono! Im not mentally- challenged, was just a leetle drunk from dehydration... ok whatever.

Ok, tat's all for now. I really need to sleep... its 1230!!! If any of you got photos and videos of today, or of the v2s, PLEASE do NOT hesitate to post them here... And i saw priscilla carrying a camera... I wanna see the video!!!

Oh, and also right, Im joking ok? don't take it to heart. This is NOT cyber-bullying by calling natasha crazy... as in... everything i say here is a compliment ok?
